The heart of Lobitos Family Daycare
Hi, I'm Leily Hojas, the owner, teacher, and caregiver at Lobitos Family Daycare. When you choose my home, you're not handing your child to a rotating staff. You're trusting one dedicated person who will know and love your little one every single day. I'd love to tell you a bit about myself.
My story
I've spent the last eight years caring for children as a nanny here in the United States, and before that I worked in a daycare, so I've had the joy of walking alongside little ones from as young as three months all the way up to age ten. Over those years, one thing became certain to me: the earliest years of a child's life are the foundation for everything that comes after.
That belief is why I opened Lobitos Family Daycare. I wanted to create a place built entirely around what young children truly need, a home filled with love, respect, and the freedom to discover the world. A place where every child feels seen, heard, and encouraged to learn while they play, explore, and grow.
Why home-based care
After years of caring for children in families' homes, I know how much little ones thrive with warmth, routine, and a familiar face. In a large center, a child can get lost in the shuffle, passed between rooms and caregivers. In my home, that never happens. Your child bonds with one consistent person, learns in a calm and cozy setting, and gets the kind of close, personal attention that helps them feel truly safe. That security is what lets a child open up, explore, and blossom.
Trained, and always learning
Caring for your child is a responsibility I take seriously, so I never stop learning. I've completed more than 25 professional trainings through California's Early Care and Education Workforce Registry, including the full Health and Safety for Family Child Care series, trauma-informed care, supporting children with disabilities and special needs, early childhood nutrition, and curriculum design.
I also bring a background in business administration to running Lobitos, which helps me keep everything organized, professional, and dependable for the families who count on me. I hold current CPR and pediatric first aid certification, so your child is in safe, prepared hands.
How I care for your child
My days are guided by a few simple beliefs. Children learn best through play, curiosity, and time spent in nature. They flourish when they feel respected and are guided with limits that are both firm and kind. And they need room to express themselves through art, music, and movement.
I follow Positive Discipline, which means I see discipline as teaching, not punishment, helping children build self-regulation, empathy, and the social skills that will serve them for life. And because I'm bilingual, your child grows up hearing both English and Spanish naturally throughout the day, a gift that lasts a lifetime.
A note for you
I know that choosing who cares for your child is one of the hardest, most personal decisions a parent makes. I don't take your trust lightly. When your little one is with me, I care for them the way I would want someone to care for my own: with patience, warmth, and my full attention. I would be honored to welcome your family to Lobitos.
Ms. Leily.
